Heather Gilmer, P.E.
Steel Operations Manager
Heather Gilmer manages operations for HRV’s Steel division. With nearly 20 years of quality management experience in both the public and private sectors, her primary role with HRV is day-to-day operations management. Her extensive background includes leadership and technical roles at many levels with the Texas Department of Transportation and with major steel fabricators, as well as involvement in developing national codes and specifications for fabrication and structural quality assurance standards. She is involved in a number of industry associations’ technical committees, including the AWS D1 Structural Welding Committee, AASHTO/NSBA Steel Bridge Collaboration, SSPC, AREMA, Transportation Research Board and others. Heather is an AWS Certified Welding Inspector, and a licensed professional engineer in Florida, Georgia, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. She holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in both Civil Engineering and Linguistics, including an MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
Heather’s personal interests include the violin, a passion she’s held dear since childhood, and one which she has developed through education and training. While Heather grew up playing the classics in an orchestral setting, her specialty is traditional Irish and French music. She has taught at a number of Irish fiddle workshops at music festivals in Texas.
